Recognition of Teaching Activity by Direction and Tutoring of Thesis

The development of article 12.4 of the Regulation of Doctoral Studies of the University of Seville (Agreement 7.2./ CG 17-6-11) and in line with the guidelines established by Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, by which The official doctorate The studies for the verification of the doctoral programs are regulated. Agreement 5.3./CG 12-2-13 approves the regulation of teaching recognition for the direction of doctoral theses at the University of Seville.

The recognition of teaching for the direction and / or tutoring of doctoral theses at the University of Seville will be reflected in the Teacher Assignment Plans as follows:

• The direction or co-direction of the doctoral theses will be recognized and accounted for within the director’s teaching assignment in an amount of 15 hours per year (1.5 credits) for each of the supervised theses that have been defended and approved in the two courses immediately . previous. In the case of co-management, these hours will be distributed equally among the teachers who have assumed leadership roles. The maximum calculation of 30 hours (3 credits) is established per teacher and per academic year.
• The tutoring function when performed by a person other than the thesis supervisor will be recognized within the tutor’s teaching task with one hour (0.1 credits) for each doctoral student and academic year, and this recognition can be applied during the first three courses in which the doctoral student is tutored. A maximum of 5 hours (0.5 credits) per tutor and per academic year will be recognized beginning said recognition in the academic year following the one in which the tutoring work has been carried out.

This recognition will begin to be applied in the Teaching Assignment Plans to the Teaching Organization Plans for the academic year 2013/2014 and, therefore, will refer to the theses defended and approved in the academic years 2010/2011 and 2011/2012.
