separar iones at\u00f3micos o moleculares que se mueven en funci\u00f3n de su masa, gracias a la aplicaci\u00f3n de campos magn\u00e9ticos y electrost\u00e1ticos.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-be3d23e e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"be3d23e\" Espectrometr\u00eda de Masas con Acelerador (AMS) a\u00f1ade a la Espectrometr\u00eda de Masas tradicional el uso de un acelerador electrost\u00e1tico. Esto permite incrementar de una manera extraordinaria la capacidad de distinguir los iones de inter\u00e9s de otros interferentes. Se aplica a la detecci\u00f3n de is\u00f3topos radiactivos de periodo de semidesintegraci\u00f3n muy grande, como el <sup>14<\/sup>C, el <sup>10<\/sup>Be, el <sup>129<\/sup>I, etc.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d3dda4c e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"d3dda4c\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d38fe67 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d38fe67\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>AMS es como:<\/p><ul><li>Encontrar un guisante en mil campos de f\u00fatbol juntos.<\/li><li>Encontrar una gota de agua determinada en una piscina ol\u00edmpica.<\/li><li>Agrupar a toda la poblaci\u00f3n del planeta en el mismo sitio y encontrarte all\u00ed con tu \u00fanico hermano.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-71b66c4 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"71b66c4\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1265431 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1265431\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">\u00bfQu\u00e9 es un acelerador electrost\u00e1tico?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3e2b73a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3e2b73a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Un <strong>acelerador electrost\u00e1tico<\/strong> es un dispositivo que utiliza <strong>voltajes muy altos<\/strong> \u2014del orden de cientos de miles o incluso un mill\u00f3n de voltios\u2014 para acelerar iones (\u00e1tomos cargados) hasta energ\u00edas elevadas. Puedes imaginarlo como una \u201crampa el\u00e9ctrica\u201d muy empinada: cuanto mayor es el voltaje, m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido cae el ion por esa rampa.<\/p><p>En el caso del CNA, el sistema AMS utiliza un acelerador tipo <strong>Tandetron de 1<\/strong><strong>\u202fMV<\/strong>, que aplica un potencial de un mill\u00f3n de voltios para:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Acelerar<\/strong> los iones a velocidades suficientes para analizarlos con precisi\u00f3n.<\/li><li><strong>Romper mol\u00e9culas indeseadas<\/strong> que podr\u00edan confundirse con los is\u00f3topos buscados.<\/li><li><strong>Seleccionar la carga<\/strong> del ion final, ayudando a separar especies distintas.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong><br \/>Por qu\u00e9 esto es importante:<\/strong><br \/>En espectrometr\u00eda de masas con aceleradores, necesitamos que el ion \u201cviaje limpio\u201d, sin compa\u00f1eros molestos que puedan confundirse con \u00e9l. Algunos ejemplos comunes en AMS son <strong>\u00b9\u2074C, \u00b9\u2070Be, \u00b3\u2076Cl, \u00b9\u00b2\u2079I, \u00b2\u2076Al<\/strong>, y varios <strong>act\u00ednidos<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Estos radionucleidos suelen tener dos caracter\u00edsticas importantes:<\/p><p><strong>1. Est\u00e1n en concentraciones baj\u00edsimas<\/strong><\/p><p>Pueden aparecer en muestras en proporciones del tipo <strong>1 \u00e1tomo entre 10\u00b9\u00b2\u201310\u00b9\u2075<\/strong>, lo que hace que las t\u00e9cnicas anal\u00edticas convencionales no puedan detectarlos.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3ab35c9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3ab35c9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>2. Contienen informaci\u00f3n valios\u00edsima<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>El <strong>\u00b9\u00b2\u2079I<\/strong> puede revelar contaminaci\u00f3n nuclear o reconstruir procesos oce\u00e1nicos.<\/li><li>Los <strong>act\u00ednidos<\/strong> permiten estudiar residuos nucleares y transporte de materiales radiactivos.<\/li><li>Los is\u00f3topos <strong>cosmog\u00e9nicos<\/strong> permiten datar rocas, glaciares o sedimentos.<\/li><li>Algunos <strong>radionucleidos estelares<\/strong> ayudan a entender la formaci\u00f3n de elementos en el cosmos.<\/li><\/ul><p>En otras palabras: aunque estos is\u00f3topos sean extraordinariamente escasos, contienen informaci\u00f3n clave para reconstruir historias geol\u00f3gicas, ambientales, nucleares e incluso astrof\u00edsicas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-149d721 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"149d721\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/institucional.us.es\/astro21\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Figura-2-1024x683.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-95\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/institucional.us.es\/astro21\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Figura-2-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/institucional.us.es\/astro21\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Figura-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/institucional.us.es\/astro21\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Figura-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/institucional.us.es\/astro21\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Figura-2.jpg 1300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ddf9cbf e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"ddf9cbf\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ccae006 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"ccae006\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 medir cantidades del orden de 10\u207b\u00b9\u2075?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-58144ce elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"58144ce\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Medir concentraciones tan peque\u00f1as como <strong>10<\/strong><strong>\u207b<\/strong><strong>\u00b9\u2075<\/strong> \u2014equivalente a un \u00e1tomo entre <strong>un cuatrill\u00f3n<\/strong>\u2014 es necesario porque:<\/p><p><strong>1. La naturaleza trabaja con cantidades min\u00fasculas<\/strong><\/p><p>Muchos procesos dejan \u00abhuellas\u00bb infinitamente peque\u00f1as, pero muy significativas. Por ejemplo:<\/p><ul><li>El \u00b9\u00b2\u2079I producido por actividades nucleares humanas puede dispersarse tanto que s\u00f3lo queden rastros ultratraza.<\/li><li>Los radionucleidos cosmog\u00e9nicos generados por rayos c\u00f3smicos se acumulan lentamente en rocas durante miles de a\u00f1os, produciendo cantidades \u00ednfimas.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>2. Necesitamos distinguir entre interferencias y se\u00f1al verdadera<\/strong><\/p><p>Cuando buscamos is\u00f3topos extremadamente raros, cualquier interferencia \u2014una mol\u00e9cula, un is\u00f3topo vecino, una impureza del material\u2014 puede falsear el resultado.<\/p><p>Por eso la AMS:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Elimina mol\u00e9culas<\/strong> en el acelerador.<\/li><li><strong>Separa masas<\/strong> con imanes de alta resoluci\u00f3n (como el nuevo inyector de 120\u00b0).<\/li><li><strong>Detecta iones individuales<\/strong>, contando literalmente cada \u00e1tomo de inter\u00e9s.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong><br \/>3.
