Sexual connotations of Eureka (by S. Hawking)

We already know how close, according to Saint Augustine, science is to sex (Science and sex). As we want to create controversy, today we bring a discordant opinion; in this case from a self-confessed atheist: Stephen Hawking, one of the scientific icons of our time. In a lecture on the occasion of his 60th birthday, Hawking extolled what a scientist feels when he makes a discovery, a moment that since Archimedes we identify with the word Eureka:

There is nothing comparable to that moment when you shout Eureka! and you know you have discovered something that nobody knew before. I wouldn’t compare it to sex… but it lasts longer.
