Cross-disciplinary training activities

Cross-disciplinary training activities, which are shared by all doctoral programmes and are designed to enable students to acquire general competencies. In this respect, the role played by the respective doctoral schools in each university is of vital importance. These cross-disciplinary training activities can be classified more specifically into the following groups:

  • Communication and dissemination.
  • University guidance.
  • Document and bibliography management.
  • Knowledge transfer.
  • Undertaking doctoral studies.
  • Linguistic competencies.

These training activities are oriented towards the acquisition of the CB12, CB13, CB14, CB15 and CA6 basic competencies.

These courses and seminars are usually scheduled regularly throughout the course so that they allow for continuous training of the PhD student in cross-disciplinary aspects of scientific research.

Although these training activities are always optional and attendance by doctoral students is not compulsory, tutors and thesis supervisors actively encourage doctoral students to attend them as they will certainly contribute to their overall learning.

The assessment of these courses is specified on a case-by-case basis by the lecturer responsible for the course.

Student travel is not necessary, as this type of course is organised by the respective Doctoral Schools of each of the universities participating in the programme.

The contents of these cross-disciplinary courses can be consulted at the following links for each of the universities:
