Rosario Del Rey, Ph.D.
Rosario Del Rey, Ph.D. is an educator and a pedagogue.
Ph.D. in Psychology in 2007, currently Dr. Del Rey is a full professor in the Developmental and Educational Psychology Department at the Universidad de Sevilla. She is the P.I. of the research group named “Interpersonal Aggression and Socio-Emotional Development-IASED (www.iased.es; SEJ580)”. She is the co-president of the International Observatory of School Climate and Violence Prevention.
She has taught subjects on “special educational needs”, “educational psychology”, “school violence” and “psychoeducational intervention, virtual reality and social networks”. Her main research interests are bullying, cyberbullying, school climate, sexting and other associated risks of internet. She has been enrolled in international, national and regional competitive projects. As a result of these projects she presents an extensive scientific production.
Moreover, she presents a wide experience in knowledge transfer by providing courses, publishing informative materials, as well as a consultant of diverse official entities (international, national and regional agencies). Some relevant examples are the mentoring for Nicaraguan Government for the inclusion of violence prevention in the official curriculum funding by the British Cooperation; the report of new dimensions of scholar coexistence for the European Observatory of Violence in Schools of Spain; the consultancy for the “Comprehensive Plan against School Bullying in the Basque Country”; the design management of the “I Municipal Plan for the Prevention and Control of School Absenteeism” for Seville City Council; and the current program of the Regional Government of Andalusia for prevention of bullying and cyberbullying.
She presents scientific leadership: being a Spanish member in the Management Committee Members of “COST Action IS0801” about Cyberbullying at the European Union, head researcher of the European project “School Safety Net” and the “Project of Excellence of the National Plan R+D+I Sexting, Cyberbullying and Emerging Risks in the Network: Keys for its Understanding and Educational Response”. She has co-managed diverse national and international research projects, such as “Prevention of Interpersonal Violence in Adolescence: a New Generation of Evidence-Based Interventions (PSI2017-86723-R)” (Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of the Government of Spain), “Responses of young people and adolescents to cyberviolence: associated variables and explanatory models (PID2020-115913GB-I00)” (Ministry of Science and Innovation of the Government of Spain), and “Preventing bullying and reducing violence among minors in Slovenia (3411/0950)” (Structural Reform Support Servie, European Union), among others.
She has supervised and co-supervised several doctoral theses. Since 2010, she is a reviewer in ANEP, except in 2012 when she was at the Expert Comission of MECP for the R+I projects evaluation. Moreover, she was a reviewer of the European Research Council and the “Evaluation Comission of Programme Juan de la Cierva” in Educational Section. She also is a reviewer in high impact international journals such as Computer in Human Behavior and Computing Surveys. In addition, to date she is part of the evaluation commission of the “Best Practice Competition”, which is related to school dropouts’ prevention and bullying attention convened by FEMP and Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. She is also enrolled in the scientific committees in several international congresses, and even the organisatio of the IX World Conference on Violence in School and VIII Congreso Estatal de Convivencia Escolar in 2023. Her scientific activity is being awarded as best publications and of special relevance in the Social and Legal Science section at the University of Seville.
