Sanjay Nanwani, Ph.D.

Sanjay is a professor-researcher at the Dept. of Liberal Arts and Communication at Arkansas State University (Campus Queretaro) in Mexico. His research work and publications focus on the relation between education, democracy, and citizenship.

He is particularly interested in supporting teachers, practitioners, and policy makers around the world to promote education structures and processes that are democratic and based on learner empowerment. As invited guest by ministries of education and universities, he has participated in conferences and conducted workshops on education for and in democracy, cultivating democratic citizenship, among other related topics. He has taught in India, Colombia, and the U.S.; consulted educational leaders in Latin America; and led research teams to promote inclusion focused on children with cognitive and physical disabilities in the Philippines. At the International Observatory of School Climate and Violence Prevention he is a member of the Executive Committee and co-leads the Special Interest Group School Climate Improvement: Research, Policy, and Practice, focused on systemic and instructional universal climate improvement efforts around the world.
