Our research focuses on the mechanobiological modeling of multiple biological processes, both experimentally and computationally. Our aim is to solve challenges at the interface between mechanics, biology and physics. Towards this goal we use a highly interdisciplinary approach that combines in silico modeling (single scale/multiscale, theory – based/data – based), small and large animal experimentation (bone transport, bone lengthening, tissue engineering, osteoporosis), in vitro modeling (traction force microscopy) and mechanical characterization of biological tissues (e.g. nanoindentation, Digital Image Correlation, Confocal Microscopy, micro-TACs, Raman spectroscopy, rheology, FIB-SEM).
We are located at the Engineering School of the University of Seville and we are affiliated to the Biomedicine Institute of Seville (IBIS).
