Desarrollo, análisis e implementación eficiente de métodos numéricos de alto orden para modelos simplificados de fluidos con incertidumbre en los datos

PI: Enrique D. Fernández Nieto

Abstract: The objectives of the project are: Development of numerical schemes for nonconservative hyperbolic systems: we aim to complete the investigation of the convergence properties of path-conservative numerical methods and to obtain new families of numerical schemes with improved properties. Application to the simulation of geophysical flows: in order to achieve this objective, the numerical schemes will be applied to some PDE systems modelling shallow water flows, sediment transport, submarine and subaerial avalanches, and turbidity currents. In some cases, the choice of the adequate PDE system will be a fundamental part of the investigation, as well as its mathematical analysis. Validation of the numerical models in several study cases proposed by oceanographers and geologists.
