RL9. Dynamical Systems

Group Leader: Jorge Galán Vioque

Description:

The research of RL9 deals with the change of critical elements of a system and their qualitative behavior (number of equilibria, periodic orbits and other invariants, etc.) as an essential shortcut to determine its dynamical behavior. We also consider non-smooth dynamics coming from ODEs and PDEs, e.g. piecewise dynamical systems coming from modeling nonlinear characteristics of electronic and control devices, where the standard differentiable dynamics tools fail to apply.
We focus on the analysis of existence, geometric structure and regularity of attractors for models coming from PDEs, especially Navier-Stokes equations and variations, bifurcations in conservative and symmetric systems with application to Celestial Mechanics and in piecewise dynamical systems with emphasis in the unfolding of degenerate equilibria with applications to the modeling of neuronal signal.
