Recommended student profile
Students with a Science or Engineering background at Master's level.
Students with an interest in Research and Development.
Knowledge of languages is recommended, preferably English.
Admission will be subject to:
- Compliance with requirements relating to the nature of the studies completed and
- Evaluation of a series of admission criteria by the Academic Committee
Admission requirements and criteria
1.- Training requirements
Admission is possible without complementary training courses, depending on the evaluation of the admission criteria, for students who:
- Hold an official Master's degree (EHEA) in the field of Science.
- Hold an official Master's degree (EHEA) in the fields of Engineering and Architecture.
For students who are unable to accredit an official Master's degree (EHEA) but have a minimum equivalent of 300 ECTS credits, the Academic Committee will act in accordance with the regulations in force and may establish the necessary complementary credits, where required.
2.- Admission criteria
The Academic Committee will evaluate all the admission applications and prepare a priority access list in accordance with the following criteria:
- Compliance with training requirements
- Affinity of the qualification with the research lines of the Doctoral Programme (maximum valuation: 50 points out of 100)
- Curriculum vitae (maximum valuation: 25 points out of 100)
- Academic record (60%)
- Level of foreign languages. Certificates accrediting knowledge of languages in accordance with the regulations of the EHEA will be granted special value (15%)
- Professional and/or research experience (15%)
- Other merits (10%)
- Letter from a lecturer of the Doctoral Programme expressing his/her interest in tutoring and/or supervising the research of the applicant. This letter of recommendation must include an academic evaluation of the student and arguments regarding his/her suitability to carry out a research topic relating to one of the research lines of the programme (maximum valuation: 25 points out of 100).
Access to the Doctoral Programme shall require a minimum score of 65 points and will depend upon availability of places.
Specific documentation for admission
Together with the admission application and the general documentation, the following shall also be included with the application for admission under the doctoral programme:
- Complete and up-to-date curriculum vitae outlining the candidate's professional and research experience and taking into account the Admission Criteria.
- Certification of complementary studies (languages, etc.) and prior professional experience, if any.
- Letter from a lecturer of the Doctoral Programme expressing his/her interest in tutoring and/or supervising the research of the applicant. This letter is not compulsory. However, in its absence no points are awarded for this section during evaluation of the Admission Criteria.
- Students who request part-time doctoral studies must present a report in support of their request.
Supplementary training
The Academic Committee will specify supplementary training for students that have not previously studied an official University Master's Degree (EHEA) in the field of science, engineering or architecture.
These complementary credits, up to a maximum of 18 ECTS research credits, shall be determined by the Academic Committee depending on the admission profile and shall be linked to official Master's courses with similar content to the research lines in which the student is to carry out their work.
