The physical resources and services available (space, facilities, scientific equipment, library, reading rooms, new technologies, etc.) are suitable to enable the development of training and research activities of students on the Doctoral programme.

1. Classroom for in-person training and research activities

With capacity for 84 students. The classroom is equipped with: a) Desktop computer (PC); b) Connection for laptop computer; c) Connection to Internet (network/Wi-Fi); d) Video projector and automatic projection screen; e) Overhead projector; f) Public Address System; g) Air conditioner and heating; h) statistical software and specific computer programmes.

 

2. Information technology rooms

Doctoral students have four ICT rooms, all of them in the School of Economic and Business Sciences of the University of Seville, with Internet access, institutional email, Database searches, use of office tools and specific applications, printing, etc.).

  • Computers (available to students and researchers) also have different licensed programmes (SPSS 18 -PASW Statistics and AMOS- Antivirus Client Trend-Micro by OfficeScan; Eviews 7; Microsoft Office Professional plus 2010, etc.)

The lecturers and students on the doctoral programme can access software for advanced teaching such as: e-Beam for interactive whiteboard; SynchronEyes; Wimba Create, etc.

3. Study and Library Rooms

The school of Economic and Business Sciences has 4 study rooms for different purposes and capacity for 475 students. The Centre offers group workspaces for small groups (fewer than 12 members) equipped with the necessary solutions for distance learning and consultation. The Centre also has a computer studies room equipped with 40 computers and Wi-Fi access points.

The Library of the University of Seville also facilitates study, research and teaching tasks of lecturers and students. The Library of the University of Seville provides users with workstations with Internet access, and wireless connection to the University’s computer network. In each Library of the University of Seville, users have quick consultation points for Fama, the online Library catalogue, which facilitates searches and location of its documentary resources (e.g., books, periodical publications, videos, maps, electronic documents, compact discs, etc.).

The Library of the University of Seville permits teaching and research staff to request the loan documents deposited in the University’s own Departments and Libraries, without having to travel.

The Library of the University of Seville has 64 work rooms in 11 centres with capacity for between 2 and 16 people, in total, 380 spaces in total for academic team work, which in some cases allows the use of interactive screens, computers, blackboards and in all cases the use of electrical connectivity and Wi-Fi.

The library has subscriptions for electronic resources in the FAMA catalogue. Lecturers and researchers have more than 260 online databases to which the University of Seville subscribes or has selected. The search platforms also enable location of more than 400,000 electronic books subscribed by the Library. 4. Rooms, Meeting Rooms and Seminars.

In the School of Economic and Business Sciences, the Doctoral programme has three rooms which are essential for disseminating expertise through seminars, conferences and congresses:

  • Auditorium (capacity: 430 people) has both Wi-Fi and cable internet connections, public address system and air conditioning. It also has a portable computer, video projector and projection screen, overhead projector and portable digital whiteboard.
  • The Graduate Room (capacity: 127 people) it has a portable computer, Wi-Fi and cable internet connections, digital video projector, overhead projector, television, video, portable digital whiteboard, public address system and air conditioning. It also has video conferencing, simultaneous translation and event recording system.
  • Meeting Room (capacity: 65 people) it has a portable computer, Wi-Fi and cable internet connections, digital video projector, overhead projector, portable digital whiteboard and air conditioning.

The Doctoral programme also has two meeting rooms and two seminar rooms for researchers, lectures and students of the Programme to work. The average capacity of these meeting and seminar rooms ranges between 15 and 30 people.

 

5. Technological Resources

The Doctoral programme has specific resources that can be reserved by lecturers and students by means of the University of Seville virtual user code (UVUS) over the intranet:

  • 20 laptop computers
  • 10 video projectors and projection screens
  • 2 portable digital whiteboards
  • Interactive Response Control System (Educlick): 250 individual controls, 4 emitter-receiver bases and 4 portable classroom licences to be able to use Educlick through WebCT: Educlick Portal Service.

 

The programme also has the “Virtual Teaching” resource. The gateway to all the teaching support tools is the internet of the University of Seville, which provides the entire university community with a web platform that has useful tools for teaching through the internet and complements in-person learning.
