Programa de Doctorado de la Universidad de Sevilla

The Doctoral programme “Strategic Management and International Business” includes a complete proposal of training activities aimed at improving and advancing the training of students in theoretical, scientific, methodological, practical and procedural areas.

Our educational offer has been designed to facilitate coordination between the different activities offered and coherence with the doctoral students’ training profile, with the ultimate aim of satisfying the requirements for skills sought by this programme. On the other hand, consideration has been given to the suitability of those activities to the specific situation of part-time students and those with special needs.

Our Doctoral programme offers a series of mobility actions, designed for the programme as a whole. These mobility actions are an opportunity for the doctoral student to learn about other international research centres, participate in scientific conferences, create collaboration networks with foreign researchers, develop their group work skills, and explore both the methodological field and the specific lines of research that make up the current doctoral programme.

The training activities that make up our doctoral programme are divided into four basic categories:

  • Theoretical and scientific training seminars (DETAILS BELOW)
  • Methodological training seminars (DETAILS BELOW)
  • Practical and procedural training seminars (DETAILS BELOW)
  • Attendance and participation in conferences (DETAILS BELOW)

According to the offer of educational actions, we propose the following monitoring and assistance guidelines.

  • The doctoral student must do at least two of the theoretical and scientific training seminars.
  • The doctoral student must do three of the basic methodological training seminars.
  • The doctoral student must do at least three of the six advanced methodological training seminars.
  • The doctoral student must do at least one of the practical and procedural training seminars.
  • The student must participate in the annual doctoral research seminar organised by the programme.
  • The student must attend at least one national research seminar and take part in at least one national conference.
  • The student will be encouraged to attend and take part in at least one international conference.

Moreover, the Doctoral programme, by means of the Academic Committee and the tutors or doctoral thesis supervisors, will encourage doctoral students to undertake research stays at other national or international universities and research centres, which can make a significant contribution to the progress of the research skills of the doctoral students, as well as the development of their doctoral theses. The measure seeks to encourage international doctorate mention of the thesis. Particularly, the development of stays in theses co-supervised by foreign lecturers collaborating with the Doctoral programme shall be sought. In this regard, it will receive support from the University of Seville through its international agreements with other universities and research centres, and its internationalisation activities. The research projects linked to the Doctoral programme may accept some doctoral students as researchers in training to facilitate funding of these stays.
