GEFN-ATI Awards for Doctoral Theses and Master's Theses 2024-25

GEFN-ATI Sistemas Awards for Doctoral Dissertations and Master's Theses in Nuclear Physics 2024-25, organized by the Specialized Group of Nuclear Physics (GEFN) of the Royal Spanish Physics Society in collaboration with ATI Sistemas. The awards aim to recognize and reward the effort and quality of work carried out by young researchers in the field of Nuclear Physics.

New features
The main new features for this edition of the awards are:
 

  1. Applications from Spanish researchers abroad will be accepted.
  2. The awards schedule aligns with the RSEF-EPJ+ Award call for Best Doctoral Dissertations from the RSEF's Divisions and Specialized Groups (fichero pdf, 232kB) and with the 2026 Physics Biennial in Seville (https://bienalfisicasevilla2026.es/).

Applications
The following may be considered for these awards: 
 

  1. Individuals who have defended their doctoral dissertation or master's thesis (with a grade higher than 9) at Spanish universities and institutions; or
  2. Spanish citizens who have defended their doctoral dissertation or master's thesis (with an equivalent grade higher than 9) at foreign universities and institutions.

between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2025. Applications must be submitted by the thesis authors, with the endorsement of their supervisors, and sent by email to gefn@nuclear.fis.ucm.es.

Categories
Prizes will be awarded in the following three categories:
 

  • Experimental Nuclear Physics
  • Theoretical Nuclear Physics
  • Applications of Nuclear Physics

Prizes
 

  • Doctoral Dissertations: 350€ for each of the three categories.
  • Master's Thesis: 150€ for each of the three categories.
  • One runner-up prize may be awarded in each category, which will receive a Certificate of Recognition.

The winners of the Doctoral Dissertation categories will be invited to present their work at the 40th RSEF Biennial Meeting 2026 (July 20-24, 2026, Seville, https://bienalfisicasevilla2026.es/). Doctoral Dissertations with a defense date between February 17, 2024, and December 31, 2025, may be considered for the second call for applications for the RSEF-EPJ+ Award for the Best Doctoral Dissertations from the RSEF's Divisions and Specialized Groups  (fichero pdf, 232kB) .
