Part-time students will be those who request to be and who obtain authorisation from the Academic Committee of the doctoral programme in which they wish to enrol. According to Article 31.3 of the General Research Rules (Agreement 1/CU 19-5-11), doctoral students who teach on an official basis, with the exception of what is indicated in the previous paragraph, shall acquire the status of part-time students.
According to the provisions of Article 45 of the Sole Agreement/CU 5-2-09, which approves the General Rules for Teaching Activities of the University of Seville and Article 26 of Agreement 3/CU 19-3-09, which approves the General Rules for Students of the Universidad de Sevilla, doctoral students with special academic needs may apply for recognition as part-time students.
For such recognition, the student must accredit with the documentation and certificates required by the respective regulatory rules any of the circumstances listed below, and obtain the express recognition of this condition by agreement of the Doctoral Committee of the Universidad de Sevilla, with the prior authorisation of the Academic Committee of the programme. The request shall be addressed to the President of the Academic Committee of the doctoral programme, who shall forward the proposal for authorisation to the President of the Doctoral Committee of the Universidad de Sevilla.
Students with special academic needs may apply for recognition as students with such needs in any of the following situations:
- Students with the legal consideration of disabled in the terms contemplated in Article 28 of the General Student Rules (Agreement 3/CU 19-3-09) and the Royal Legislative Decree 1/2013, of 29 November, which approves the Consolidated Text of the General Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and their Social Inclusion.
- Pregnant students or students who have dependent children under three years of age or ascendants or descendants in a situation of dependency, in accordance with the provisions of Law 39/2006, of 14 December on the Promotion of Personal Autonomy and Care for people in a situation of dependency.
- Students who combine their studies with work.
- Students who are high-level or high-performance athletes, in the terms contemplated in Article 32 of the General Student Rules (Agreement 3/CU 19-3-09).
- Students in other personal situations of serious difficulty, such as victims of abuse, gender violence or terrorism, among others, as well as students with a degree of disability of less than 33%. The request for the doctoral student's dedication regime (full time or part time) and its corresponding extensions will be addressed to the president of the Academic Committee of the doctoral programme, who must inform the Doctoral Committee of the Universidad de Sevilla of the authorisation..
