NOTE: All documentation that requires the signature of the President of the Academic Commission of the Doctoral Program of the 2011 Plan “Molecular Biology, Biomedicine and Clinical Research” (BMBIC) will be processed by the administrative support of the program.

The academic commission has established a minimum period of 15 business days for any administrative procedure requested by the student and, especially, for the review prior to deposit of the thesis or for the evaluation reports of the follow-up/final reports of the scholarship holders. Otherwise, this commission declines all responsibility, if the deadlines are excessively rushed and the documentation required at the administrative level is not delivered with sufficient foresight and advanced notice.

> What requirements are necessary to deposit the thesis?

To proceed with the presentation of the doctoral thesis, the student must be enrolled under academic supervision, have obtained positive evaluation in the annual follow-up of the Research plan and in the doctoral student's activities document in the call immediately preceding the date of presentation (HAVING ACCREDITED A MINIMUM OF 20 ACTIVITIES), be within the deadlines established in the permanence regime that applies, and be up to date with the payment of public prices for academic supervision of the doctoral thesis.

  • T03 - Presentation of doctoral thesis
  • Copy of thesis in PDF, via e-mail or through the link, https://consigna.us.es/, indicating file name and password.
  • The doctoral student must complete the following mandatory table, detailing his scientific contributions related to the thesis by accessing the following link: Scientific production model related to the doctoral thesis
  • T17 - Declaration signed by the doctoral student stating that he/she is presenting an original research work, and in which he/she ensures, under his/her sole responsibility, that does not incur in academic fraud or deviations in the exercise of research.
  • T18 - Report from the director of the doctoral thesis regarding compliance by the doctoral student with his duty to avoid academic fraud and deviations in the exercise of research.

Theses by compendium of publications:
  • T03B - Presentation of doctoral thesis by compendium of publications.
  • Minimum of 3 contributions.
  • A complete copy of the publications, necessarily stating the name and affiliation of the author and all co-authors, if applicable, as well as the complete reference of the media or publishers in which the works have been published or accepted for publication. In the latter case, proof of acceptance by the editor of the medium or publisher should be provided.
  • The report of the director and the thesis tutor referred to in section 1 of the art. 64 of the regulations.
  • The written acceptance by the people who hold co-authorship of the works, if any, of their presentation as part of the doctoral thesis.
  • The resignation of people who share the authorship of the works who are not doctors to present the same results as part of other doctoral theses.
Theses subject to confidentiality procedure.
  • T02 - Request for confidentiality of doctoral thesis
  • Two copies of the thesis in electronic format, one of which must reproduce the entire content of the doctoral thesis, while the other will contain a version in which the content considered confidential has been deleted.
Theses that qualify for the International Doctorate mention in the Doctorate title.
Theses eligible for the Industrial Doctorate mention.
  • T15 - Application for Industrial Mention in the Doctorate degree
  • Copy of the labor or commercial contract, or scholarship-contract in cases where applicable.
  • Report from the University tutor and the person responsible for the student designated in the company.
  • Certificate from the company or Administration in which the doctoral student has provided his services stating this, as well as his participation in an industrial research or experimental development project directly related to the thesis.
  • Memory of activities carried out in relation to your thesis that must have the approval of the academic committee of the doctoral program in which you are enrolled.
Co-tutelage.
  • The following circumstances must occur:
    1. that an agreement has been signed between the University of Seville and a foreign university.
    2. that the doctoral thesis is supervised by two or more doctors of which at least one belongs to the University of Seville and another to the foreign university.
    3. that, during the training period necessary to obtain the doctoral degree, the doctoral student has completed a minimum stay of six months in the institution with which the co-tutorship agreement is established, carrying out research work, either in a single period or in several. The stays and activities will be reflected in the joint guardianship agreement.
  • The thesis carried out under international co-tutorship may be carried out in two modalities:
    1. Modality A: obtaining a doctorate degree from the University of Seville with mention of Thesis under joint supervision with the University
    2. Modality B: obtaining a doctorate degree from the University of Seville and from a foreign university.

> How is the thesis committee processed?

The presidency of the committee will correspond to the Spanish public university professor with the highest academic standing and seniority in active service and, failing that, the oldest doctor. The professor of the University of Seville of lowest rank and seniority in a situation of active service will act as the secretary of the court and, failing that, the professor of a Spanish public university of lowest rank and seniority, unless, one or the other being the only ones in their respective condition, the presidency corresponds to them in accordance with the criteria established in this section. In their absence, the most recent doctor will act as secretary.

Once you have obtained the signature of the president of the Academic Commission, you must present all the documentation through the Registry.

The documentation indicated in the previous points will be presented in the Registry of the University of Seville through one of the following forms:

  • Telematically (requires digital certificate from the FNMT), through the procedure “Presentation of instances and requests. Generic model” available at the Electronic Headquarters of the University of Seville.
  • In person in the General Registry of the University (Rectorado, C/ San Fernando, s/n), in the Auxiliary General Registry of the University of Seville (Brazil Pavilion, Paseo de las Delicias, s/n), or in any of the forms established in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

> Requirements to be thesis director:

The Doctoral Studies regulations of the University of Seville establish that the appointment as doctoral thesis director may fall to any Spanish or foreign doctor, with accredited research experience, regardless of the university, center or institution in which they provide their services. Accredited research activity will be understood as having at least a recognized six-year term, or equivalent scientific production.

The research activity of the proposed directors who do not have a recognized six-year term will be evaluated by the Academic Commission of the Program in accordance with the evaluation criteria published by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI), in relation to the scientific field to which the line of research belongs and to which the doctoral thesis is presented. These criteria will be applied to a selection of five publications, and two more substitutes submitted by the applicant. To do this, the following template of the proposed director's research activity must be included in the admission application.
