Comentary

Despite the lack of text, it may be a fragment of a carmen. Dub[—] at the start of the word can only correspond to a term with its root in dubio, which is well attested in the CLE but does not appear in prose inscriptions, except as a nomen (Dubnatius, AE 1976,424, Dubidius, CIL VIII 2403); cognomen (Dubitanus, AE 1983,731, Dubitatus, AE 1987,829); or epithet of a divinity (Dubnocaratiaco, AE 1980,641-643). The prosody of dubio, beginning with two shorts, is highly appropriate for verses with dactylic rhythm. We find the same sequence tot dubiae at the beginning of a hexameter in Lucan 4,389, so that the fragment may correspond to the left part of the table.
