Comentary

At the end of line 1 there remains the beginning of a <V>, indicating that the deceased was a male: [Oct]aviu[s]?; [Fl]aviu[s]? Carmen with dactylic rhythm, which rules out the reconstruction of certain words for [—]ties, such as septies (CLE 779, 841 a), or octies (CLE 274), the solution possibly being [tristi]ties, giving the line a marked alliteration in /t/. As regards tecum, a word of some frequency in the CLE, it is not clear who is speaking in the inscription (on dialogue with the deceased, Socas 2002, 183-204). For timu[—], we are inclined to opt for timui because of its proximity to tecum. After timu there is space for two letters and then another vowel, the long apex above it being preserved. One reconstructin might be timu[i núllum].
