Comentary

Dactylic rhythm (hexameters or distichs), with correct prosody assuming that
dextera (l. 1) and mea (l. 4) are nominatives, except perhaps in l. 5, where dum loquor
could form a cretic sequence if it is in fact followed by an <N>.
Ll. 1-2, dextera [- – -] / nunc [- – -]: l. 1 reference to the time when the deceased was
alive, as the following line begins with nunc, an adverb usually denoting the change of
state from life to death (cf. CLE 476,7; CLE 492,2; etc.). L. 3: hic Gracili[- – -] could
either be the name of the deceased (the formula of deictic + proper name is frequently
used to introduce the individual) or an adjective (cf. CLE 1339, 11) L. 6: common
variant for sit tibi terra leuis.
