La Rábida 2009

European Physical Society (EPS) Sponsored Conference

It took place on July 2009, during one week, starting the 4^th until the 10^th of July at La Rábida Campus of the UNIA (Universidad Internacional de Andalucía), located in Huelva, Spain.

In this edition, the following speakers covered topics in both basic concepts and applications of Nuclear Physics.

  Topic: "Heavy Ion Therapy"

• Prof. Jan Jolie. University of Cologne (Germany).
  Topic: "Symmetries in Nuclear Systems"

• Prof. Giuseppina Orlandini. University of Trento (Italy).
  Topic: "Physics of Electroweak Interactions"

• Prof. Patricia Roussel Chomaz. GANIL (France).
  Topic: "Direct Reactions with Exotic Beams"

• Prof. Berta Rubio. IFIC, CSIC-Valencia (Spain).
  Topic: "Nuclear Structure studies at the future FAIR facility"

• Prof. Hans-Arno Synal. ETH Züritch (Switzerland).
  Topic: "Accelerator Mass Spectrometry"

The number of registered PhD students and postdocs was around 60 coming from very different countries: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Cuba, Spain, USA, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Turkey and Venezuela. In the particular case of Spain, participants came from 11 different Universities and Research Centers, covering basically all institutions where active nuclear physics groups are working.
